Help me use Yaesu FT-991A Manual online
Recently my friend gifted me a Yaesu FT-991A. So I’ve started exploring its capabilities because I want to use it for more than just listening. I’m trying to set up digital modes, such as FT8, and experiment with DSP filters. I’ve also noticed that the auto-tuning sometimes malfunctions. Because of this, I looked at the service manual I found on manualmachine.com. But it's too big. There's a lot of information, diagrams, and sections. And It's hard for me to figure out what can help in my situation. I didn’t expect it to be so extensive. So, I'm asking here. How do I set it up correctly, or which section in the manual should I look at so that I don't have to read the whole thing?

Instead of starting with the schematics, I recommend starting with the functional blocks. Open the block diagram on the website and find the section relevant to your task. For example, if the issue is with reception, look at the RF unit and IF/DSP. The DSP block is important for digital modes, and the PLL is important for frequency. Next, go to the relevant section and look at the specific signals and voltages. This way, you won't get lost in the entire manual but will work precisely on your specific task.
